Your salary has arrived, but before you buy groceries, several debit orders have already gone off. You need to cover transport, help someone at home, and make the balance last until month-end. If looking at your bank account makes you uneasy, it deserves attention without judgement.

As we mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October, financial pressure belongs in the conversation about well-being. At Letshego, we recognise the financial responsibilities many households carry, from everyday expenses to supporting family.

The pressure has a practical context. Namibia's annual inflation reached 5.0% in August 2026, with transport costs a major driver. For many households, the money needed to get to work can affect what remains for everything else.

At Letshego, we encourage a manageable starting point. Set aside a quiet moment to look at your latest bank statement and payslip. Use the amount you actually receive after deductions. Write down what must be paid, what you owe and when each payment is due. Include family support so your budget reflects your actual responsibilities.

Then choose one decision you can make this week. You might plan transport spending, cancel an unused subscription or contact a credit provider about a repayment you want to manage. The purpose is to understand your options and give yourself a clearer basis for the next decision.

A budget cannot make a salary stretch indefinitely, but it can help you see what is affordable. Review your spending and adjust as your commitments change.

Your next financial move should begin with an honest picture of where you stand. Watch this month's video in our Your Next Money Move series, and if you would like to talk through your numbers, our team is here to sit with you. You do not need to have it all figured out.
